If you are eager to explore the beautiful mountains of Slovenia, Mount Vogel in the Southern Julian Alps is the best place to go. Beautiful views on the high Alpine peaks are really nice – yet the trails of Mount Vogel are not to demanding and everybody can enjoy them – even families with kids. 

Go Rafting and Kayaking on Soca river

The Soča River is probably the best rafting destination in Slovenia. Soča, one of the most beautiful rivers in Europe, is known as the Emerald River – its beautiful photos are not enhanced by filters, the river is really emerald green and perfectly crystal clear.

Another beautiful rafting destinations is the Sava Dolinka River. Speeding across crystal clear waters dotted with moss-covered boulders is a true delight. And apart from these two, your can enjoy wild waters of rivers Krka, Kolpa rivers, Savinja and Sava.

Mountain Biking in Triglav National Park

The Triglav National Park covers an area of 838 square kilometers. Its dynamic mountain terrain features beautiful mountain peaks, valleys, and many cultural attractions. A major attraction is tranquil Lake Bohinj, where many mountain biking tours start. The routes go into the heart of the national park and cover stunning places like Pokljuka Plateau, Lake Bled, and lovely valleys in Radovna. 

As your drive across scenic landscapes, your will get to visit the charming alpine village of Kranjska Gora, cross the mountain pass of Vršić, visit the Trenta Valley, and the town of Bovec. Guided tours offer rent of a regular bikes and e-bikes.

Exploring Vintgar Gorge

If you want to spend time outdoors, exploring the natural beauty of Slovenia, then Vintar Gorge is undoubtedly one of the best destinations. The 1,600 meters long Gorge is flanked by steep slopes and thick beech forests. The canyon has been carved out by the Radovna River, emerald green, and crystal-clear river. Above the Radovna River are boardwalks, allowing to walk above the river and rapids, waterfalls and pools before reaching 16m-high admirable Šum Waterfall.

Climbing Mount Triglav

Mount Triglav at 9,396 feet is the highest point in the country. Located in the heart of the Julian Alps, the place is great for rock climbing and mountaineering activities. Although the ascent is considered an intermediate level climb, in the last part your will need to use of the rope. The best way to conquer Triglav is with a certified guide. Most of climbing routes last two days and include one night in a mountain hut.

Triglav National Park has eight natural climbing areas. The difficulties of the routes range from the easiest (3) to the most demanding ones (8c +). 

Canyoning in Soca Valley

The Soča is a 138-kilometer-long, beautiful river that flows through western Slovenia. Besides kayaking, Soča is a place to enjoy canyoning, since the river terrain crosses through stunning gorge lined with waterfalls and steep walls. Sliding down waterfalls, jumping on rocks and swimming in natural pools are a part of this adventurous tour through stunningly beautiful landscape. 

Underground biking and Kayaking in Mount Peca

One of Slovenia’s most interesting destinations is Koroška, where your will find something truly amazing hidden underground in Mount Peca. The mountain has tunnels where your can enjoy mountain biking. But even the more fascinating part is underground kayaking. After the mines of the Mount Peca were shut down, some of them filled up with water from underground lakes. A small mine train takes visitors 3.5 kilometers inside the tunnel for an underground kayaking tour.  After about 700 meters of kayaking, a traditional miner’s meal is served. This is very unusual – and pretty unforgettable experience.

Hot Air Ballooning

Walking around Lake Bled or looking at it from the castle perched on a hill above the lake is a magical experience, but looking at this scenic place from a hot air balloon? This unique experience delights by the most breath-taking views in the country. The spacious baskets gives plenty of space to move around during the one-hour flight, making the experience very enjoyable.
